Teresa Scherffius, PT, OCS
Graduated from the University of Louisville in 1993. She is certified in the specialty
of orthopedics and has experience in out-patient orthopedics, acute care, home health as
well as industrial rehab. Teresa established her private practice in the fall of 2000, in
order to provide individual, quality, client-based care to the Louisville area. Teresa
has offered an exercise program tailored for senior citizens to several area church
groups over the past 8 years.
Jana Lyons, PTA
Began working for us in early October 2005. She graduated Jefferson Community College
in 1982. With more than twenty five years experience in home health, acute care and rehab,
she specializes in functionally based rehab to improve the quality of life in the geriatric
population. Jana also has a strong background in total joint rehabilitation, balance and
strength training.
Sarah Douglas, DPT
Began working for us in February 2009. She is a graduate of Bellarmine University in
December 2007 with Doctorate in Physical Therapy. She also obtained her undergraduate degree
from Bellarmine in Cardiopulmonary Science and is a Registered Respiratory Therapist. She
recently obtained training and certification in Mat Level 1 Pilates. Sarah is very excited
to be working in an outpatient setting and with our patients.
Karen Cronin, PT
A Louisville native and a 1975 graduate of the University of Kentucky. She worked for eight years in acute care at St. Mary & Elizabeth, St. Joseph and Audubon Hospitals at a time when total joint replacements and open heart surgery were “new”! In 1983, she became the director of Physical Therapy at Suburban Hospital and continued to work with superficial burns and scar tissue repair, diabetic feet wounds, post-op hand rehabilitation, and furthered her education in neck and back pain treatment.
In 1997, Karen managed an out-patient PT clinic in Hikes Point and continued to focus on individual patient care and orthopedic problems. At Physical Therapy Group, she specializes in the treatment of neck, back and upper extremity injuries.
Melissa W. Pierie, OTR/L, CHT
Melissa Pierie is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, with a bachelor’s
degree in Occupational Therapy in 1991. She earned her certification in Hand Therapy in
2001. She has experience working with adult and pediatric hand and upper extremity
disabilities and injuries, including splint construction for specific problems. Her goal
is to return a client to most functional use for work, leisure and self-care
activities.
Judi Conlin, Personal Fitness Trainer:
Judi Conlin wears many hats in our organization: Medically Oriented Gym Director, Personal Trainer, Physical Therapy Technician and our liaison with the local YMCA. An early interest in dance, led Judi to a Dance minor from Western Kentucky University. She has enjoyed a diverse career that has included activity director for a senior citizen center, aerobic dance instructor and fitness trainer. Judi joined Physical Therapy Group in 2006 as a Personal Trainer. She has used her time with us to expand her personal training skills with certification through W.I.T.S (World Instructor Training School) at Bellarmine University along with advanced study and experience to assist the medically compromised population.
